Tids Bits - Its the little things that frustrate

We all treasure our homes. It’s our place of solitude when the world gets to crazy. Unfortunately there is not a single thing that does not need some kind of upkeep and maintenance. Our homes seem to be the drama queen of them all. Everything from a split in a screen needing repaired to a major heating overhaul.

Below are a few helpful hints that will make your high maintenance mansion a breeze to handle. Some of these tips you can use as you prepare your home to sell fast. Taking preventative measures now will help as you encourage the interest of buyers later. If buyers just aren’t coming fast enough give us a call we’ll help ya out!

Until then, I will be giving you 200 interesting points that you can use around the house. Some so simple will make you wonder why you didn’t think of it first! Others I am including as helpful tidbits of information as well as a little humor here and there. Smile life is short have to enjoy it while we can!

    Let’s gets started!

    1. Remove Broken Key From Lock.

Put some super glue on broken off part, insert and hold a few seconds

    - will pull out rest of key.  (make sure you don’t use too much or you will actually glue it in there.)

    2. Remove Broken Light Bulb.

Stick a bar of soap into jagged edges, use soap as handle. (a lot of people use body wash now days so you can do the same thing with a raw potato)

    3. Remove Stubborn Screw.

Heat with a soldering iron for a few seconds first then remove

    4. Protect Children From Sockets.

Keep a piece of electrical tape over them when not in use.

    5. Good Glass Door Safety Tip.

Put a BIG decal on those glass and patio doors. =D hehe

    6. Keep Nails From Splitting Wood.

Blunt sharp end of nail before you use by hitting with a hammer.

    7. Repair Small Holes In Screen.

Plug holes with clear nail polish, let dry, repeat until filled.

    8. Straighten Warped Phono Records.

Place record between two sheets of glass, set in sun for a while.

    9. Best Way To Clean Phono Records. (as if any one has any now days.. but ya never know!)

Dip in solution of detergent and water, rinse and wipe dry.

    10. Make Your Own Fireplace Logs.

Roll newspapers up tightly in shape of log. Papers are wood. So it would only be reasonable that if you roll it up tight it will become a log! =D

    11. How To Remove Oil From Driveway.

Cover with sand, let stand a few days, then sweep off.  Since we all don’t live close to a beach you can use kitty litter just the same!

    12. Keep Fish Hooks From Rusting.

Stick them in a cork and submerge in some baking soda. Fish might not like the taste but the water will wash it off quick enough.

    13. Make Sandpaper Last Longer.

Back sandpaper with masking tape or duct tape.. they say here in Oklahoma Duct tape fixes everything! =D

    14. How To Revive Old Razor Blades.

Rub them back and forth inside of a drinking glass. They may just be dehydrated! =D hehe

    15. Where To Sell Box Tops And Labels.

Eggleston Enterprises, 207, Main Street, Milford, NY 13807.

    16. Remove Labels From Bottles & Jars.

Fill with hot water and then submerge in hot water, will just fall off.

    17. Cut Glass Without Glass Cutter.

Use tin snips and cut under water, smooth rough edges with sandpaper. Be careful because you can still get hurt.

    18. Easy To Unglue Stamps & Envelopes.

Put in freezer a few hours then flip off with knife blade.

    19. Get Water Out Of Your Watch.

Strap watch to light bulb, turn on for a few minutes. Water drops will form on crystals, open up and wipe off. This one makes a good science project!

    20. Prevent Snow Sticking To Shovel.

    Coat shovel with car wax.

I hope you found some of these useful as well as enjoyable. I would love to hear your thoughts and find out how you put any of these to use.
