Sell a Home in Little Rock

When it comes time to sell a home in Little Rock, thinking comes before selling. Thinking about why you need to sell a home is the first important step in the process of selling it. So, use your computer or an old-fashioned pad of paper and a pen, whatever works for you. Just get started listing the reasons you need to sell and you’ll be started off right with your thinking process.

Starting your thinking process when you need to sell a home in Little Rock isn’t hard, but can be a little bit overwhelming. Most sellers list with a real estate agent and don’t give much thought to the things they can do to market their homes themselves.  Either they don’t know what to do or they simply don’t want the responsibility, because the fact is that selling a home is a job and it takes time and energy to do that job. Everybody is busy these days, and most people don’t think they have the time to take on another job. That’s ironic because many sellers are disappointed with their real estate agents for the same reason, meaning agents are too busy to spend much time marketing any particular home.  Sellers always seem to blame their agents when a home doesn’t sell, but I say they need to take a look in the mirror because sellers have to get personally involved to sell a home in Little Rock these days.

When I hear people complaining about a real estate agent and about the fact that there haven’t been any showings or offers, I usually ask, “What have you done to market your home yourself?” Usually I get a surprised look in return, but I get my point across, too. When people ask me how to market a home themselves I have a few suggestions.  1) Run free ads online. No matter what your broker tells you, it’s your house and you can run ads to find interested buyers yourself;  2) Send postcards to your neighbors if you’re too shy to knock on their doors and talk to them. Make sure they know the price and make sure you ask them if they know anyone who might want to live in the neighborhood; 3) Talk to people in local grocery stores, hair salons, restaurants and bars. Get a conversation started and ask them if they know anyone who is looking for a new home; and 4) Open your home on Sunday afternoons and show it yourself.  Having an open house is the best way to get showings on your own.

So, to sell a home in Little Rock a seller has to think and then she has to act. Getting involved in marketing your own home is the way to take responsibility and find a buyer in the present market.
