Time to Sell Your Home: Prepping Your House for a Showing

Once putting your home on the market you must prepare it for showings. When selling your house it is important to stage and accommodate your house for people to view it. You want to try to make your house memorable to the potential buyers who’ve most likely viewed a few other homes that day. I will list a few tips to help you get your house in order for a showing.

1.) Make sure your home is well lit in the evening and if it’s during the day, open all the curtains and let the natural light shine through. No one wants to walk into a cave, that’s a bad start and often times a deal breaker.

2.) Clear the clutter from the front yard and driveway, including any cars that are parked. The potential buyers want to see a full view of the home and take pictures a lot of the times to show other family members etc. A car, or any other eye soar should be removed.

3.)  Remove bulky furniture and any clutter or personal objects around the home. If you have a bunch of family photos on the walls try minimizing it to a couple so that the viewers aren’t distracted from seeing the actual structure and features the home has to offer.

4.) Eliminate any odor from the home and try not to cook any pungent foods the day of and before the showing, Too many times have people been immediately turned away by a fowl smell in a home.

5.) If you have pets keep them caged up or in a separate area in the home while there are people there. Whether it’s a barking dog or a chirping bird, any pet can be detrimental to the sale of your home.

6.) Take pictures of areas of the home that are not able to be shown, such as the attic, basement. Label areas of the home that are questionable, explain why an area is covered up or why something looks they way it does.

Following these tips or showing your home will no doubt lead to you selling your house fast. Sometimes all it takes is a little imagination and some touching up for a successful showing and sale.
